CARI recognizes that front line patrol officers are the investigator's
number one weapon in identifying and capturing robbery suspects. Patrol
officers are the initial responders to all crime scenes and their actions
can help determine the outcome of an investigation. Patrol officers
account for a majority of the robbery arrests and much of the information
that the investigator uses to successfully solve a case.
The Officer of the
Year Award was initiated in 2001 to acknowledge exceptional work by a
patrol officer that results in the identification or capture of a
suspect(s) in a serial robbery investigation or a suspect(s) in a
particularly heinous or newsworthy robbery case.
The Officer of the
Year is selected in February (for the prior year) from nominations
provided by CARI members. Nominations can be from any jurisdiction in any
state, however the actions of the officer being nominated must be related
to a Colorado investigation.
Once the Officer of
the Year is selected, he or she will be invited to attend that year's
Western Robbery Conference, as a guest of CARI, and honored
at the awards banquet. |
